Condensate Neutralizers FAQ
1、Condensate Neutralizers - Are they necessary?
YES - Even if you are not currently required by law to have one.
Typical condensate from a condensing boiler has a PH level of 3.2 to 4.5, which is acidic enough to leave stains, kill shrubs, and eat away cast iron drainage systems. In fact, in some municipalities, condensate neutralizers are required by lay when draining condensate into home plumbing systems.
Condensate production can be estimated based on one gallon per hour for every 100,000 BTUs of input, so you need to ensure that the size of your neutralizer is correct. Condensate neutralizers contain calcium carbonate chips which need to be replaced at the beginning of each heating season. We do offer refill kits for your maintenance.
2、Who needs a neutralizer?
Any home or business owner with a high efficiency furnace or boiler condensing system
3、Am I required by law to have a neutralizer?
As of fall 1994, condensate neutralizers were required by government housing developments, and the majority of Metro Toronto municipalities, As the by-laws may vary by municipalilty, check for the latest requirements with your local municipal authority.
4、How does the neutralizer work?
High efficient residential furnaces produce an acidic condensate. They can produce as much as six gallons per day, (commercial and industrial boilers produce considerably more) which passes through your condensate pump to a drain in your home, and out to the sewer system. The acid produced is strong enough, when exposed over time, to dissolve metal parts, concrete floors, sinks, iron fittings and clay sewer pipes. One heating season alone may be long enough to incur repairs or replacement to condensate pumps.
The condensate passes through this filter where it is immediately neutralized. The water is then harmlessly passed through the rest of our water systems. You have saved costly repairs at home, sewer replacement costs, and repairs at the water treatment plant. This small step plays a big part in reducing our acidic emissions.
5、What is the best Condensate Neutralizers ?
USA, Canada, UK and most countries made strict restrictions to condensate water, it must be neutralized before drain. These countries generally use Calcium Carbonate, Magnesium Oxide and such to neutralize condensate water. China generally use condensate recycling equipment, or use neutralization amine or organic pH regulators. Comparatively, use inorganic mineral media is more eco-friendly to neutralize condensate water.
There are many problems no matter use calcium carbonate, magnesium oxide or neutralization amine. Such as calcium carbonate with short lifetime and easily powder off; neutralization amine pollute environment and can cause secondary pollution. Depend on current condensate water neutralize technology at home and abroad, MUQI researched and developed condensate neutralizer ceramic ball successfully. condensate neutralizer ceramic ball is safe and eco-friendly, with longer life time and higher hardness. More than 10 countries like USA, Canada customers started use the ball and now is an essential media for condensate neutralizers abroad.
Condensate neutralizer ceramic ball is compound from pure natural inorganic mineral material, after granulation molding into ceramic beads. The main composition is calcium carbonate, silicon oxide, magnesium oxide and such. It has many advantages such as safe and eco-friendly, with longer lifetime, higher hardness, better function and so on. It can be used for condensate neutralizer of gas boiler, furnace, air-conditioning, hot water heater as pH regulator material. Condensate neutralizer ceramic ball has passed international SGS test, all 19 items meet the requirements of national hygienic standards for drinking water.
